Ellie here. As I mentioned yesterday, I’m back from my travels, and we’re back to our regular schedule.
I had the most amazing time in Italy. My mom, dad, brother, and I started our journey in Venice, then we made our way to Florence, then Rome, and ended our trip on the Amalfi Coast.
One of my favorite parts was taking a gondola tour through the canals of Venice, or getting a tour of the Colosseum.

Lon Allen Jr. explains the plans for the new kitchen and dining area in the home he is restoring on Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Reservation on the evening of June 8, 2026, in Bowler, Wisconsin. The hours are long and sometimes frustrating.
Lon Allen and his sister Chrystal Wedde continue trying to restore a historic home to its former grandeur on the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Reservation in northeast Wisconsin.
They’re heartened when other tribal members stop by, as they often do, to lend a hand. The home means so much to the tribe. It represents a turning point in the tribe’s history, a time when it was finally able to call Wisconsin a real home.

Welcome back to our series What’s Brewing in Wisconsin! We’re traveling around the state highlighting the bars, breweries, and cafés that make Wisconsin feel like home, one drink at a time.
Recently, I stopped at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee to learn about the brews they’re serving up to customers. Watch my interview to learn more, and follow along for the next stop in the series!

Racine’s Fourth of July weekend has tons of fun in store, from the big parade to delectable eats. (Tony Savino/Shutterstock)

Tucked away in the southeastern corner of Wisconsin, right up against the shore of Lake Michigan, is Racine, the Belle City. Why the Belle City, you ask? Belle, meaning beautiful in French, is a longstanding testament to how lovely this lakeside city has always been.
We’re known for quite a few things: our kringle, cheering on one of the four original teams in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (the Racine Belles), and, of course, being a drive-through city that sits between Milwaukee and the Illinois border—but there’s much more to Racine than that. For example, USA Today cited the city as one of the top 10 places in the country to spend Independence Day!

For Sen. Kelda Roys, it was time to tell the crowd, “This is not a moment for a newbie.”
For Rep. Francesca Hong, it was time to remind the audience that lots of people were called radical in the beginning, and now their ideas are seen as mainstream.
Hundreds of delegates at last weekend’s Democratic Party of Wisconsin convention heard direct appeals from Roys, Hong, and five more people hoping to break out of the pack and win the Aug. 11 primary election that will determine who goes up against Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in November. The winner succeeds Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, who is stepping down after two terms.
