ā®ļø Last Week: We asked you about the direction of the Democratic Party, given recent instances of younger, bolder voices emerging on the scene. Hereās what you said:
26% š° Be bold, go left
38% š± Big tent, room for all
30% š² Moderation, donāt go too liberal
šæ6% š³ Republican spectators with a box of popcorn
Weāll highlight one response ā and welcome one of our international readers, Annie Graul, vice chair of Democrats Abroad in Barcelona, who said:
āAmericans are demanding fairness and economic opportunity, which are clearly supported in the Democratic platforms. The Republicans are not giving them those things. We on the left don’t need better policies, we just need to communicate our existing policies better. Thanks and best wishes from a cheesehead in Spain, where liberal politics have given the citizens one of the greatest public healthcare systems in the world.”
āļø This Week: Businessman Bill Berrien, a Republican candidate for governor, announced a $400,000 ad buy more than a year before the August 2026 primary. If you see a candidate running ads this early, whatās your thought?
š° šš» I hate it ā Iāll have an instant negative vibe about you and itāll be tough to win me over when itās actually time to start thinking about 2026 elections.
š± š¤·š»āāļø I get it ā Nobody likes political ads, but theyāre the only way someone can build their name ID with the general public. It wonāt make a difference to me and it wonāt hurt them when itās finally time to vote.
š² šš» I like it ā I like the initiative, the gumption. I think a candidate should be rewarded for communicating with voters right now as opposed to doing nothing but fundraising.
Be sure to answer as if itās a generic candidate, not specifically one whose party you like or donāt like.
