The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program has protected 750,000 acres of Wisconsin’s forests, wetlands, and trails for 35 years…and is expiring on June 30th. Lawmakers in the state Legislature couldn’t come to an agreement about funding, though Wisconsin Senate Minority Leader Diane Hesselbein said Democrats would work to restore the program if they can gain control of the House, Senate, and Governor’s Office.
