Actress and activist Kerry Washington delivered a message about the power of individual votes during a stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Oct. 23. The Scandal star urged voters not to underestimate their influence in a state where major elections have frequently been decided by narrow margins. “We have never perfectly lived up to the idea of truth and justice for all in this country,” Washington told the crowd. “But we have to be marching in the right direction.” Washington emphasized that even a small number of votes can make a difference in closely contested districts, telling attendees that their voices matter and that they have the power to shape the future of their communities, state and country. Her appearance came as Wisconsin voters began casting early ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. Video from: Wisconsin Working Families Party
