New option lets you answer our online questions by phone instead of a Facebook post or email.
Over the past couple of weeks we have added new features to our social media feeds and newsletters (morning and afternoon), and we want to thank you for your participation.
Digital media means a “letter to the editor” no longer requires paper, stamps and a wait of multiple days. Your feedback can be fresh and relevant to today’s latest stories.
Each week our Facebook page contains a question seeking your input about an issue in the news. So far our posts have included questions about returning to school in a pandemic, Native American imagery in sports teams, alternatives to traditional policing, the hazards of resuming mining in northern Wisconsin, election day voting preferences, mask requirements, and the potential deployment of a federal police force to Milwaukee.
Your responses have run the gamut: forceful, thoughtful, detailed, emotional; left, right, and center.
And you certainly are not only informing us about where you stand on these matters but also telling your Wisconsin neighbors in the Facebook community about ideas and points of view they may not have considered previously. We can all learn a little something from each other.
Now we have added a new option for sharing your thoughts on our questions.
Perhaps you’ve noticed a phone number attached to those posts: 877-262-3538. It’s nothing fancy, a plain ol’ generic voicemail beep that lets you answer our questions in your own words. We’ll type them into our newsletter sections just as we do with your responses on Facebook.
Your responses and feedback by email are also appreciated by writing to [email protected].
Whether you turn to UpNorthNews for each day’s news coverage here on our website, or catch our stories through individual posts on Facebook and Twitter, or watch our daily news and commentary on Instagram, listen to our daily podcasts and audio updates on Spotify, Stitcher or iTunes, or check out our latest interviews and other videos on YouTube, we want to provide you with a review of the day’s most important stories in a way that leaves you feeling informed and empowered, not overwhelmed. You help us with that mission everyday through your story ideas, critiques, praise, photo submissions and more.
If we were the ones leaving a voicemail for you, the message would be simple and sincere: thank you.
