Hi everyone, Ellie here.
This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Meagan Johnson, founder and executive director of the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, and Kate Duffy, founder of Motherhood for Good. From Sept. 7 to Sept. 21, these organizations have been collecting monetary and diaper donations for National Diaper Need Awareness Week.
Meagan and Kate both emphasized the importance of this initiative, explaining the overwhelming expense of diapers and the struggles that many families face when trying to afford them. While you can donate at any time, the National Diaper Need Awareness Week fundraiser ends on Sunday.
Donors to Motherhood for Good will be entered into a drawing for merchandise, while those who donate to the Milwaukee Diaper Mission will be entered into a drawing for a signed Giannis Antetokounmpo jersey. Get those donations in while you can!
Today, weāll take a deeper look at the fundraising efforts from these organizations, along with other Wisconsin news!

MADISON ā Aniya Warrenās Wisconsin volleyball teammates were in for quite the surprise when they saw an Instagram post from the freshman libero.
When Warren was not preparing for her first year of college volleyball this summer, she was writing a now-published childrenās book.
āCharlie (Fuerbringer) was like, āAniya, you wrote a book? What is this?āā Warren said. āAnd then she read it, and she was like, āThatās actually really good, I actually really liked it.āā
Warrenās book ā āI Am Human,ā which is independently published and available for purchase on Amazon ā combines her off-the-court writing passion with an important message about it being OK to make mistakes.

BAILEYS HARBOR ā In another sign that Wisconsin maritime historians are in a golden period of discovery, a wooden schooner hidden beneath the depths of Lake Michigan for nearly 140 years has been found ā with citizen scientists on board to share the excitement.
Many maritime historians and shipwreck hunters had searched for the 144-foot, three-masted F.J. King over the years. The leaders of a group that went searching for it at the end of June were dumbfounded when the King suddenly appeared on sonar, said Brendon Baillod, president of the Wisconsin Underwater Archeological Association. Baillod and Bob Jaeck, also with the Underwater Archeological Association, led the effort to find the King off Baileys Harbor.
It āwas hidden in plain sight, right where it was supposed to be,ā Baillod said.
