Ellie here. I hope everyone got out and voted yesterday!
Our spring elections have a large impact on the daily lives of Wisconsinites. One thing on the ballot was a Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, which we’ll be learning more about in our Civic Check-In today.
We’re also still keeping an eye on those gas prices as the war with Iran continues. As of April 7, according the AAA, gas prices in Wisconsin were up 20 cents compared to the week prior, at $3.81. The national average sits at $4.14.
Have you noticed any changes in gas prices? Let me know your thoughts.
Also today, we’re taking a look at Chris Armstrong’s candidacy for US Congress in our Meet the Candidates section, along with other Wisconsin news.

What does the Wisconsin Supreme Court do?
|
The Wisconsin Supreme Court is the highest court in our state. Its decisions shape how laws are applied in Wisconsin.
Here’s what it does:
➡️ Makes final decisions: It has the final word on legal cases in state courts.
➡️ Interprets the constitution: It decides what the Wisconsin Constitution means in real-world situations.
➡️ Impacts major issues: Its rulings can have an impact on elections, maps, rights, and more.
➡️ Elected by voters: Wisconsin Supreme Court justices are chosen in elections by Wisconsinites.
Why it matters:
The court’s decisions can shape policy and affect daily life across the state.

Chris Armstrong is a Democratic candidate for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. He is a small business owner in the IT industry, and grew up on the Apple River near Star Prairie in St. Croix County.
On his campaign website, Armstrong lists his top priorities as prosperity, opportunity, security, dignity, and stability.
“So of course, people are concerned about, you know, health care, housing, energy prices, grocery prices, you know, many other issues that, you know, working class families are really struggling with,” Armstrong said in an interview with WSAW-TV.
“But it always comes back to this administration is not following the law, and they are violating the Constitution on a regular basis. And that really seems to be a very common issue that unites the left, the right, and the center.”
