WATCH: Former CDC vaccine chair warns Wisconsin could see more measles cases

Dr. Jonathan Temte, a UW professor who helped declare measles eliminated in the US in 2000, says low vaccination rates put the state at risk of losing that status.

Wisconsinโ€™s statewide measles vaccination rate is one of the worst in the nation at less than 85% โ€” and itโ€™s even lower in Milwaukee Public Schools, with just 56% for kindergarteners reported as taking the MMR vaccine last year. The national average is better than 92%.

Temte says the spread of misinformation is making it harder for people to get accurate health information and urges families to talk to trusted healthcare providers.
