It’s time to grab your picnic blankets and head outside for the summer. Brown County runs 18 parks around the county. Some are as big as 1,000 acres like Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve in Suamico, but there are also plenty of parks that are just a few acres wide or are more off the beaten path in the Green Bay area.

If you’re looking for more parks to explore, here are seven county parks to check out this summer.

Lily Lake Park, Eaton

Lily Lake Park surrounds a 40-acre lake east of Green Bay. The 81-acre park and boat launch are open from dawn to dusk. Hike the area, rent the gazebo or take a kayak out. Use one of the two fishing piers to catch bass, northern pike, or perch.

The park is at 3897 Lily Lake Road, Eaton.

Way-Morr Park, Morrison

Way-Morr Park sits on the Branch River and opened May 1 for the season. The 32-acre park has picnic areas, a playground area, fishing, and basketball and pickleball courts. The park is open dawn to dusk and an indoor shelter is available to rent.

The park is at 3832 Park Road, Morrison.

Pamperin Park, Howard

If you’re looking to be around people, Pamperin Park could be your optimal spot as the largest developed park in the county. Stroll by Duck Creek and walk over the scenic bridge with one of the largest kids’ playgrounds in the area. The park also offers picnic tables, volleyball courts, and a golf course. Reserve one of the indoor halls or gazebos.

Pamperin Park is at 2801 County RK, Howard.

Brown County Dog Park, Hobart

Take the pups out to Brown County’s Dog Park in Hobart. The 25-acre park offers an off-leash fenced area for four acres. A daily pass is $3. The park is open all year from dawn to dusk.

The dog park is at 1000 Pleasant Lane, Hobart.

Neshota Park, New Denmark

There’s plenty of space to wander in the 260 acres of Neshota Park by the Neshota River and King Creek. Roam the trails, playground, and wooded hills around the park. An indoor shelter is open for rent with cooking and a fireplace. The park and trails are open dawn to dusk.

Neshota Park is at 5757 Park Road, New Denmark.

Fonferek's Glen

Fonferek’s Glen is a 74-acre Brown County park at 2825 Dutchman Road in rural Ledgeview.

Fonferek’s Glen, Ledgeview

Spend a day chasing waterfalls while soaking in the fresh water at Fonferek’s Glen County Park. The 75-acre county park has a 30-foot waterfall and cliffs that are part of the Niagara Escarpment, which is the same limestone cliff that runs all the way to form Niagara Falls in New York. View the waterfall from an overlook. The rest of the park is a natural conservancy area, though no marked trails exist. The park is open 8 a.m. to dusk. The gate automatically closes at sunset.

The park is at 2825 Dutchman Road, Ledgeview.

Wequiock Falls, Scott

Wequiock Falls is one of the county’s smallest but most unique parks. It offers a close look at the Niagara Escarpment rock formation and picturesque waterfall flowing from Wequiock Creek. There are picnic tables and a Jean Nicolet monument to mark early settlements in Green Bay.

The park is at 3426 Bay Settlement Road in the town of Scott.
