Ellie here. We’re almost two weeks away from Election Day, and I’m here to remind you about early voting in Wisconsin.
Starting this Tuesday, Oct. 20, Wisconsinites can cast their ballots early through in-person absentee voting. If you have a busy schedule, want to avoid the Election Day chaos, or simply prefer to get your vote in ahead of time, early voting is a great option.
So, how does it work?
In-person early absentee voting in Wisconsin takes place from Oct. 20 through Nov. 1. However, locations, dates, and times can vary depending on where you live.
When you head to the polls early, be sure to check with your municipal clerk beforehand to get all the information and specifics on locations, dates, and times.
What should you bring?
Wisconsin voters need to present a valid photo ID to vote in person. If you’re not sure if your ID qualifies, you can find a full list at the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
And if you’re still not registered to vote, you can do so at your municipal clerk’s office through Friday, Oct. 30, or at your polling place on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. Be sure to bring proof of residence when registering.
A few things to remember
If you don’t get a chance to vote early, Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If early voting works best for your schedule, I encourage you to make a plan and head to the polls!
We’ve got all this information and more on our free voter hub! It’s a great place to refer back to if you have any questions before casting your vote.
