Held at Schuster’s Farm, visitors can stroll through vibrant late-summer flowers, sip craft beer, and enjoy time petting baby farm animals. It’s the kind of outing that’s perfect for families, dates, or anyone who needs a calming change of pace as summer comes to an end.

Along with the floral displays and furry friends, the event will also feature local food vendors and a chance to take home fresh, handcrafted arrangements. Visitors can linger among the blooms, sample seasonal beers, or just enjoy the simple pleasure of a colorful, warm evening.

What makes events like this special is how they capture the season’s transition. As summer winds down, it’s one of those last opportunities to gather outdoors to celebrate Wisconsin’s agricultural traditions in a hands-on way.

The Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office adds a therapy dog to the payroll

The Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office announced this week that a one-year-old goldendoodle named K9 Brie would be officially joining the team. K9 Brie will serve as a therapy dog for the office, and her position in this new role was facilitated in part by the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, per FOX 11 News.

McKenzie Repinski, who is K9 Brie’s handler and the Deputy Medical Examiner for the Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office, said that therapy dogs are incredible assets. The office is often charged with responding to tragic death scenes, where grieving family members are in obvious distress.

“Sometimes people don’t want to talk with us and just want to sit with the dog and pet the dog,” Repinski said. K9 Brie will be able to provide this level of comfort and support to people during their times of need.

Hollywood studios and independent producers have long depicted the collective efforts of working people to improve their lives and gain a voice in their workplaces and the larger society.

Some of the most well-known labor movies champion the struggle of the everyday worker: “Modern Times,” released in 1936, stars Charlie Chaplin going crazy due to his job on an assembly line. It features the famous image of Chaplin caught in the gears of factory machinery. “The Grapes of Wrath,” a 1940 adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel, tells the story of sharecropper Tom Joad’s radicalization after his family and other migrant workers experience destitute conditions in California’s growing fields and overcrowded migrant camps.

1979’s “Norma Rae” is based on the life of Crystal Lee Sutton, who worked in a J.P. Stevens mill in North Carolina. The textile worker and single mom inspires her fellow workers to overcome their racial animus and work together to vote in a union. “Bread and Roses,” a 2000 film about low-wage janitors in Los Angeles, is based on the Service Employees International Union’s “Justice for Janitors” movement.
