Murals started popping up on the downtown Madison street earlier this week.

Demonstrations across the country have been an everyday occurrence since the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers May 25. That has been the case in Madison since Saturday when the first demonstration was planned to highlight systemic racism and call for justice for those killed by officers.

Destruction occurred several nights, but all has been calm since a dance party broke out on a main thorough through downtown Madison Tuesday afternoon. State Street businesses that were damaged, their windows and entrances covered by plywood, have now been adorned with murals.
