You Now Have Until July 15 to File Your Federal Income Taxes

Mnuchin encouraged those expecting to receive a tax refund to file immediately in order to take advantage and receive their money.

Americans will now have until July 15 to file their income tax returns, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced via tweet on Friday.

The three-month extension is intended to provide Americans wiggle room as they endure the ongoing economic ramifications of the coronavirus crisis. Mnuchin said the delay would keep $300 billion in the economy as Americans who owe taxes can instead keep that money.

At @realDonaldTrump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.
