Nationwide, millions of people start the new year off by abstaining from alcohol during Dry January. In 2024, 25% of Americans successfully participated in the trend, according to Civic Science.
Launched by nonprofit Alcohol Change UK in 2013, Dry January has since expanded across the globe. The goal is simple: abstain from drinking alcohol for the entire month of January. One popular way people navigate this trend? Turning to tasty mocktails, aka cocktails crafted sans alcohol.
In Wisconsin, about 61.8% of adults consume alcohol, compared to the national average of 52.3%. This higher rate of alcohol consumption is attributed to the “Wisconsin culture.” For years, Wisconsin has ranked high on the charts, and at times been characterized as the “drunkest” state.

Inmoxicated, Racine
This sober bar (or sobar) offers a variety of alcohol-free products to drink in-house or take home. Offerings include a wide selection of non-alcoholic beer, wine, and spirits, including rum, gin, whiskey, tequila, and vodka.
Mint Mark, Madison
Located in Madison’s iconic Atwood neighborhood, this restaurant and bar offers mocktails crafted with house-made syrups, including non-alcoholic sangria, Old Fashioned, and more. The menu also includes THC-infused beverages and N/A spirits.
BoMallies, Sheboygan
This restaurant began as a popular food truck, and its brick and mortar on Calumet Drive offers a mocktail menu that includes a rotating fresh fruit spritzer, a traditional N/A Moscow Mule served in a copper mug, and a wide selection of N/A brews.
