WATCH: Why this OB-GYN is fighting for women—no matter where she is

Dr. Kristin Lyerly is a proud Wisconsinite. She lives here. Her family is here. She enjoys her hobbies, like watching Wisconsin sports teams and biking, here.

But she hasn’t been working here.

Since the Dobbs decision in 2022, Lyerly has had to move her practice to Minnesota because she felt it wasn’t safe to provide proper OB-GYN care in Wisconsin. She also became a plaintiff in Attorney General Josh Kaul’s successful lawsuit challenging the state’s 1849 abortion ban, which was widely interpreted as banning abortion in almost all cases in Wisconsin—until a Dane County judge ruled that it applied to feticide, not abortion.

And with the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision earlier last month, the state’s “abortion ban” is no more and Lyerly is returning to Wisconsin to practice.

The doctor is one of about 100 people who made their voices heard in Washington, DC to mark the third anniversary of the Dobbs ruling one month ago.
