Two of Wisconsin’s most beloved foods—cheese and beer—come together in an equally popular soup. This creamy concoction is delicious enough to stand on its own for lunch or dinner and also works well as a tasty side to a sandwich.

You’ll find beer cheese soup on many restaurant menus across Wisconsin, especially at brewery taprooms where the beer folded into the soup is crafted on-site. Here are eight of the best spots across the state to indulge in the dish. 

1. Barrique Bistro & Wine Bar – Lake Geneva

Across the street from this resort’s town namesake body of water—Geneva Lake—is this wine bar with indoor and outdoor seating, along with a hearty food menu. On a chilly night, hunker down inside with a bowl of its beer cheese soup, featuring aged and sharp Wisconsin cheddar plus gluten-free beer.
