It may not feel like it right now in Milwaukee, but meteorological spring kicks off in a week.

As the season approaches, weather forecasts are rolling in from different experts. It’s worth noting that the predictions – from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, AccuWeather, Farmer’s Almanac and Old Farmer’s Almanac – all vary slightly.

Here’s what the four forecasts predict for the 2026 spring season in Wisconsin.

When does spring begin in 2026?

Meteorological spring begins March 1, while astronomical spring begins March 20, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

What does AccuWeather predict for Wisconsin’s spring 2026 weather?

The Midwest, including most of Wisconsin, is in for a slow start to the spring season, according to AccuWeather’s Jan. 27 forecast. The forecaster said warmer temperatures may not arrive for good until May.

There’s also the potential for a late season frost, which has the potential to affect farmers.

What does NOAA predict for Wisconsin’s spring 2026 weather?

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center forecasts that Wisconsin has an equal chance of above, below or near average temperatures during March, April and May.

The seasonal outlook also predicts a 33% to 40% chance of above-average precipitation for the majority of the state during the spring months. A small portion of northeastern Wisconsin has a 40% to 50% chance of above-average precipitation.

What does the Farmers’ Almanac predict for Wisconsin’s spring 2026 weather?

For its final spring weather prediction, the Farmers’ Almanac predicted Wisconsin will have a cooler start to the season with frequent spring storms. Potential storms range from thunderstorms to occasional snow.

Cooler temperatures will likely linger through mid-April, past the March 20 spring equinox for much of the United States, the almanac predicted.

The Farmers’ Almanac, first published in 1818, is separate from the Old Farmer’s Almanac, which has been annually published since 1792.

What does The Old Farmer’s Almanac predict for Wisconsin’s spring 2026 weather?

The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicted Wisconsin will be warmer and wetter-than-normal during the 2026 spring months. However, the Almanac predicted the southwest corner of the state will be drier than usual.
