Regulating data centers in WI: What lessons can we learn from the Foxconn mess?


This week’s gubernatorial debate showed the Democratic candidates presenting a united front on the need to strengthen Wisconsin’s standards for the ongoing construction of massive data centers. The question, of course, is who will write the rules?Republicans offered a watered-down set of regulations while Democrats promoted protections for water use, electric ratepayers, workers, and more. Trevor Jung, a former Racine alderman and candidate in the 21st State Senate District, says the nearby Foxconn development underscores the need for better guardrails.
