From packing snacks to passing bills–This former teacher is running for WI assembly

How many teachers do you know that keep snacks in their classrooms for students who are a little hungry? Jeremiah Frederickson, who taught for 16 years in Dunn County, is one. Now he’s vying for a spot in the Wisconsin legislature, where he says he’ll protect rural schools and stand up for Wisconsin families. Frederickson, who is running to represent western Wisconsin’s Assembly District 92, says he’ll bring frontline value to the role— including direct insight into how food insecurity impacts a child’s ability to learn. Understanding these issues are especially important now, he says, since the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) estimates between 23,000 and 34,000 people in Wisconsin have lost SNAP (known locally as FoodShare) benefits following President Trump’s cuts under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. ✏️: Salina Heller
