The conspiratorial state lawmaker’s announcement comes complete with an endorsement from the MyPillow guy.

Rep. Timothy Ramthun (R-Campbellsport), the Legislature’s most prominent spreader of 2020 election conspiracy theories, on Saturday officially launched his campaign for governor, joining a Republican field that includes former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and former Marine Corps officer and US Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson.

Ramthun, who has repeatedly tried to nullify the 2020 election and allow partisan officials to overturn election results, is running on a platform of rooting out election fraud despite multiple court rulings, audits, and a recount in Milwaukee and Dane counties upholding Joe Biden’s victory.

“I am a simple person. I just want truth, and I want things done right,” the lawmaker said in a speech at Kewaskum High School.

Far-right conspiracy theorist and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell appeared at Ramthun’s campaign launch to endorse him, and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, a former Donald Trump adviser who was convicted in 2017 of lying to the FBI and later pardoned by Trump, endorsed Ramthun in a pre-recorded message.

In a Sunday tweet, Ramthun said he will only “lay down my head on MyPillow” at night once there has been a “full ethereal physical cyber digital forensic circumspectual AUDIT of the 2022 election.”

“The Republican candidates in this race are so desperate to divide our state, and even their own party, that they’ll embrace radical conspiracies and pander to a disgraced pillow salesman instead of doing what’s best for our state,” Gov. Tony Evers campaign spokesman Sam Roecker said in a statement after Ramthun’s announcement.
