Ty Fisher is a fifth-generation farmer who has lived on his family farm in Pierce County since he was 19. He worked hard to build his idyllic countryside lifestyle. But his family’s peace was overtaken by a massive, factory-style farm. Ridge Breeze Dairy, owned and operated by the Appleton-based Breeze Dairy Group, was already big—but owners wanted it bigger. The DNR allowed a permit, but after years of legal challenges, a judge’s ruling in August sent the permit back to the DNR to strengthen the environmental oversight of the livestock operation.
