A Madison police officer shot and killed a man on Wednesday afternoon. Madison Police Chief John Patterson said in a press conference that the man brandished a knife, injuring an officer. In the video, an officer can be heard yelling that the man has a knife, though eyewitness Richard Hegwood told Wisconsin Public Radio that he did not see the man pull out a weapon. Another eyewitness, Michael Doubek, told WPR that the man had already been tased by police and said the man was on the ground when he was shot. The man has not yet been identified, though his family has been notified, Patterson said. In response to the shooting, protesters began marching in Madison on Wednesday evening.
