MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Administrators at a Wisconsin elementary school stopped a first-grade class from performing a Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton duet promoting LGBTQ acceptance because the song “could be perceived as controversial.”
The text messages and videos spread lies about transgender kids, falsely accused the “woke left” of having an “unending thirst to trans our children,” and urged voters to support Dan Kelly’s campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Wisconsin’s state superintendent gives low grades to the Republican candidate for governor, whose plan for struggling schools is to give them even less support while speaking out against “wokeness.”
Eighty-eight percent of likely voters believe the government “should not have a say in personal matters like a person's sexual preference or gender identity,” 48% oppose anti-LGBTQ bills introduced by Republicans, and 55% oppose conservatives labeling teachers and LGBTQ people as “groomers.”
In flag-raising ceremony, Evers also signed executive orders to ban state money in “conversion therapy" and ensure inclusive language in state documents.
