The Green Bay Packers-Pittsburgh Steelers game in Week 8 was all about the quarterbacks.
Jordan Love vs. Aaron Rodgers. The Packers’ current QB vs. their past QB.
Love proved to be the star of the night in the Packers’ 35-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Sunday Night Football.” And praise was coming Love’s way across the internet from fans, football observers and analysts on morning sports talk shows for the show he put on in leading his team past Rodgers and the Steelers before a national audience.
Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre also weighed in on the game and reacted to Love’s performance — and for good reason.
In the game, Love completed 20 straight passes, something that hadn’t been done by a Packers quarterback since Favre accomplished the feat 18 years ago.
Favre tipped his cap to Love.
“Congratulations to Jordan Love for his 20-straight completions in a row and the Packers on the big win last night!” Favre wrote on X Oct. 27.
Love’s streak began on the final possession of the second quarter and lasted until the 5:36 mark in the fourth quarter.
He connected with nine players during this stretch, for 252 yards. He found five wide receivers, two tight ends and two running backs as he spread the ball out with short balls, intermediate routes and the occasional deep pass. The Packers would outscore the Steelers, 25-3, on the five drives the streak encompassed.
Love finished 29-of-37 for 360 yards, three touchdowns and a 134.2 rating in delivering one of his best performances of his career and ending a 55-year winless drought for the franchise in Pittsburgh. His numbers and the game result were similar to Favre’s and the Packers in the Hall of Famer’s 20-completion streak.
Favre’s streak came in a 37-26 win for the Packers over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007.
Favre was 31-of-41 for 381 yards, three touchdowns and a 128.2 rating. Donald Driver was Favre’s leading receiving with 10 catches for 147 yards. James Jones had 75 yards and Greg Jennings had two touchdowns for 60 yards.
That win improved the 2007 Packers to 10-1, a season in which they were the No. 1 seed and advanced to the NFC title game.
With Love in command, the 2025 Packers are 5-1-1 and in first place in the NFC as they approach the halfway mark in the season.
